Serious confusion over Hummel’s business in Spain

Danish sports brand Hummel, two rival distributors and top teams in a number of sports are being all being dragged into a serious of disputes in Spain.

A Barcelona-based firm called Feeling Sport, run by ex Puma executive José García Alcaraz, claims to have taken over the licence to distribute Hummel products in Spain in April 2013. Previous licence-holder, Seville-based Hummel España, run by Sergio Parra, is refusing to give up its rights to distributing the brand in both Spain and Portugal.

Mr Parra has objected to Feeling Sport gaining the benefit of deals that he says he has negotiated over a number of months and has already submitted a formal police complaint against an athletics club in Valencia and has threatened similar action against top-tier basketball club Saski Baskonia and football club CD Tenerife, currently involved in a play-off for promotion to the second tier of Spanish football.

In Denmark, parent company Hummel has made no official statement about the confusion in Spain, but lists an address in a Barcelona suburb called Gavà as its current distributor for Spain and Portugal.
