Kraton to introduce Nexar cooling technology
31/05/2013
The polymer manufacturer will introduce the technology at the upcoming Techtextil trade show in Frankfurt where its senior scientist, Dr Richard Blackwell, will host a technical presentation, New Selectively Sulfonated Pentablock Copolymer Imparts Cooling Comfort to Textiles and Nonwovens.
As moisture is absorbed from the skin’s surface, the Nexar polymer swells and binds with the moisture which, when released to the environment, provides a cooling effect. The coatings do not require complicated fibre or fabric construction and do not rely on a thermal activation, according to the company.
Holger Jung, vice-president of sales and marketing, said: "The evolution of Nexar polymers creates new opportunities for use as a coating, laminate or additive. Its unique properties make it suitable for the performance fabrics markets including protective clothing, industrial uniforms, bedding, military and intimate apparel."
Kraton manufactures at plants in the US, Germany, France and Brazil, and a joint venture plant in Japan.
