Sports apparel brand opens new factory in Fairfax

Sports apparel brand Sport Science started production in a new 3,700 square-metre factory in Fairfax, Virginia, on June 1, and immediately pointed to the site’s environmental credentials, saying that it is “one of the few clothing manufacturers in the world using green energy to power its production”.

In 2009, in an effort to reduce its carbon footprint and create more jobs, Sport Science shifted the majority of its manufacturing from overseas facilities to domestic manufacturers based in the Carolinas.

Its new facility will further reduce its carbon footprint, the company said, through the use of solar energy for hot water supply.
