Nylstar to exhibit at Techtextil for first time
Polyamide filaments and yarns producer Nylstar is attending the Techtextil trade fair in Frankfurt for the first time next week, to showcase its latest developments.
The Spanish company claims that at equal fabric thickness, Nylstar polyamides can offer almost four times more UV protection than polyester and twice the protection of cotton.
It will present Meryl Skinlife, which it says maintains the natural healthy balance of bacteria on the skin through silver particles, providing freshness and odour-control for the wearer. It says by adding these properties to Meryl Nexten it has become the first the company to offer a hollow fibre with bacteriostatic properties.
The polyamide 6.6 fibres have wicking properties, elastic recovery – so they need a lower percentage of elastomer compared with some other synthetic fibres – and demonstrate easy care and comfort. The fibres are soft and cool to touch and have less static electricity, it says.
