Lenzing celebrates 75 years

Fibre producer Lenzing is celebrating the 75th anniversary of its business this week with 3,000 guests including employees, customers, politicians and partners.

The Austrian company has also published a book to mark the occasion – ‘75 Years of Innovation’, which documents the company’s history through developments such as Modal, flame-retardant fibres, Lyocell, Tencel and nonwovens.

Seventy-five years ago, the company manufactured 30,000 tonnes of fibres per year; today it is close to 900,000 tonnes. The group spends EUR 28 million a year on research and has 1,400 patents and patent applications in 57 countries.
