For the last six years, Doug Freeman has been Patagonia’s vice-president of production. In all, he will bring 24 years’ industry experience to his new role, in which he will provide “strategic vision, leadership, and operational expertise”, Patagonia said, in directing business strategies in product research and development, materials research and development, quality, product development, production and sourcing, social and environmental responsibility, operations and distribution.
He takes over from Rose Marcario (who has been promoted to chief executive of holding company, Patagonia Works) and will report to Casey Sheahan, Pagatonia’s chief executive.
Before becoming vice-president of production, Doug Freeman was Patagonia’s sourcing manager for Asia, having previously held director-level positions at Polo Ralph Lauren, The North Face, and Sport Obermeyer.
