Burlington's technical fabrics to get bluesign treatment

Textiles group Burlington Worldwide has been certified as a bluesign system partner, which means the fabrics carrying that label meet its environmental, health and safety criteria and use bluesign-approved dyes, chemicals and raw materials.

The first bluesign fabrics will be produced at the company’s manufacturing facility in Jiaxing, China, which produces technical synthetic fabrics for the active and outdoor markets.

“Consumers are increasingly sensitive to their own environmental impact and the impact of those products they are using,” said Jeff Peck, president of Burlington. “At the same time, conscientious consumers are looking to independent sources to identify those products with less environmental impact.

“The bluesign system is unique in that it addresses the sustainability and consistency of our products, providing our customers and consumers additional assurance, without compromising the functionality, quality or design.”

Bluesign offers a third-party approval system for the textile industry, taking into account the whole production process, minimising the impact on the environment and safeguarding human health.
