Adidas design chief on panel for PV Awards

Announcing the jury for the fifth edition of the PV Awards in September 2013, the organisers of hte Premie`re Vision event said Kathryn O’Brien, global head of design direction for adidas, will join the group of judges.

The awards aim to showcase what the organisers have called “the extraordinary power of invention, imagination, renewal and creativity in textile fashions” through four prizes. There is a Grand Jury Prize, for the “most outstanding, most symbolic and most pertinent fabric of the season”, a Handle Prize, for the fabric with “the most astonishing tactile and behavioural qualities” and “touches the senses and the emotions”, an Innovation Prize for the “most innovative, most intelligent, most technological and creative” fabric and, finally an Imagination Prize for “the most daring, most original and most surprising” fabric in terms of fibre, technique, decoration or finishing.

Winners will be announced at midday on Thursday, September 19.

Originally from Australia, Kathryn O’Brien has been in her current role since October 2011 but has worked at adidas since 2004. Before that, she worked for Puma for six years, in her native country and, later, in Germany.
