TenCate announces inkjet breakthrough for textile finishing
04/07/2013
After the launch, TenCate said: “This new machine marks the official transition from analogue to digital finishing of technical textiles.” It added that it would now be able to offer “on-demand delivery and mass customisation on the basis of a flexible, sustainable and cost-efficient production process”.
In addition, TenCate said basing the new finishing machine on inkjet technology would mean savings in water, energy and chemicals, including dyes and pigments, compared to previous systems.
The development is a result of joint-working between TenCate and north-Italy based industrial inkjet printing specialist Reggiani Macchine and Xennia Technology, a specialist in inks and material dispersion, based near London. The project had the support of the European Union, the European Technology Platform for the Future of Textiles and Clothing, the Dutch province of Overijssel, the University of Twente and the region of Twente.
