Tests prove benefits of One Way, Clariant says
05/07/2013
The first step of One Way involves selecting products based on eco-standards requirements. Clariant’s database includes more than 200 products, developed and pre-tested against stringent environmental and consumer safety standards including Blue Sign,OekoTex, GOTS, substances of the Joint Roadmap towards Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals, bioelimination and 20 major Restricted Substances Lists.
Stage two involves short-listing processes based on an environmental focus, and the final stage is selecting the products based on cost and eco-benefits calculations, which are done via a calculation software tool, which became available in the early part of 2013.
Test results have verified the accuracy of the calculations and measurements, Clariant said at the start of July.
“The One Way system is designed to help our customers balance the twin objectives of ecology and economy and enables them to see that more sustainable and efficient solutions do not have to come at a higher cost,” Clariant’s head of product marketing for textile chemicals, Emrah Esder, said on making the July announcement.
“The system helps mills and brand owners to develop innovative textile solutions that are more ecologically and economically sustainable.”
