Swedish golf apparel manufacturer Abacus has looked close to home for partners to make the special finishing touches to the apparel that Europe’s top women golfers will wear for the 2013 Solheim Cup, the women’s equivalent of the Ryder Cup, which takes place in Colorado in August.

It has put the task of embroidering competition crests onto the official polo shirts into the hands of husband-and-wife team Goran and Anki Wikander. The Wikanders run a firm called Symaprint, located just ten minutes from the Abacus headquarters in Dalby in southern Sweden.

Sewing team and competition crests onto the shirts requires almost 10,000 stitches in six different colours per garment. Abacus said it had chosen Symaprint for the quality of its workmanship, plus the ability to resolve any issues that might arise in minutes.

Abacus designer, Chris Mattsson, said: “Symaprint delivers on every piece. It is this close attention to detail that can sometimes make all the difference.”
