Positive first half for VF Corporation

Apparel and footwear group VF Corporation has reported revenues of $4.8 billion for the first half of 2013, an increase of nearly 2.9% on its performance in the first six months of 2012.

Growth in its outdoor and action sports category, encompassing brands such as The North Face and Vans, was higher at 8%, reaching almost $2.5 billion for the six-month period.

Revenues in the separate sportswear category grew by 14% to $133 million driven by good results for sportswear brand Nautica and bag brand Kipling.
