Antimicrobial textile technology provider PurThread has named a new CEO and added to the board to “guide the company through its next phase of rapid growth”.

Lisa Grimes takes up the top role after 28 years in the life sciences industry. She was formerly CEO of InSite Clinical Trials, a research organisation that was acquired by United Healthcare.

"The antimicrobial textile field is rapidly becoming an integral part of the life sciences industry, so it's an exciting time to be joining the PurThread team," said Ms Grimes.

Dr Tom Inglesby, CEO of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for Health Security, joins the PurThread board, bringing significant expertise in public health policy.

The US company recently announced it is launching a sportswear collection, transferring its experience in the medical sector to create "odour-free" garments.
