Mozambique: cotton exports off target

07/08/2013
Mozambique’s cotton exports fell well short of projections in the first quarter of this year, with the east African country exporting 24,300 tonnes. The Mozambique Cotton Institute (IAM) had predicted shipments of 70,000 tonnes for the three-month period.

IAM has set a target for 135,000 for the whole of 2013, but commentators have said it now appears unlikely that Mozambique will meet that target. In 2012, it exported 184,000 tonnes.
