Nike debuts colour changing footwear material

US sportswear group Nike has launched a new iridescent customisation option for its KD VI basketball shoes in a new material that changes colour in varying lights.

Chroma iD is available in seven colours for the upper with 16 accent colours on the logos, laces, lining, midsole and outsole. Glow-in-the-dark materials will be available on the laces, airbag, midsole, outsole and personalisation options.

Chroma was two years in development and was inspired by iridescent paint on cars. It will be available on Nike Basketball signature shoes.
