Ethiopia the next sourcing destination for H&M

Swedish retailer H&M is looking to Ethiopia as a new low-cost country in which it will produce clothing, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.

Much of its apparel is made in Bangladesh and the Africa move would add to production, rather than replace Asian sourcing, said a spokeswoman, who added that large-scale production could begin there as early as autumn.

The company is boosting its sportswear offering, in January signing tennis star Tomas Berdych to promote its foray into tennis wear.
