Nike’s ‘tattoo inspired’ leggings deemed offensive

Nike has had to pull a range of women’s leggings only weeks after their launch after it emerged the pattern was sacred in Samoa and only used on men.

The "tattoo-inspired" pattern on the Pro Tattoo Tech tights was also used for a sports bra and bodysuit range, but angered some consumers who called for their removal.

Nike said it had not meant to cause offence. 'We apologise to anyone who views this design as insensitive to any specific culture. No offence was intended."
