Hyosung hopes Cotna can fill a gap

Yarn manufacturer Hyosung Corporation has updated its Cotna product and says the yarn will be of interest to sports brands making products such as yoga pants.

In spite of problems with sheerness earlier this year, Canadian yogawear brand Lululemon has had considerable success with pants in its proprietary Luon fabric, made from nylon 6,6 air textured yarn (ATY).

Because nylon 6,6 is expensive, Hyosung has said it believes Cotna can represent “a halfway house”, offering brands a fabric with a natural feel, good shape stability, good pilling performance and good moisture management functionality at a less expensive price.

Typically, the sample fabrics Hyosung has asked its partners to make to try out the idea have had around 14% spandex in their composition.
