Gildan to expand yarn-spinning facilities
Canada-based sportswear brand Gildan Activewear is evaluating suitable sites in the Southern US for the construction of two additional yarn-spinning facilities to support projected sales growth.
The company currently expects to invest in excess of US$200 million during for the construction and development of these new facilities.
This investment will be made in addition to investments announced on November 29, 2012, for a new ring-spun yarn manufacturing facility in Salisbury, North Carolina and for the refurbishment and modernisation of the company’s open-end facilities in Clarkton, North Carolina, and Cedartown, Georgia.
The company’s US yarn-spinning facilities, including the two new sites, are expected to create more than 700 new jobs.
