Teijin to present protective apparel solutions in Tokyo
Japan-based Teijin Limited will present its latest protective apparel solutions at the Tokyo International Fire and Safety Exhibition 2013, which will run from October 2-5.
These solutions will incorporate the group’s proprietary Teijinconex heat-resistant and flame-retardant meta-aramid fibre as well as high-strength para-aramid fibre technologies Twaron and Technora.
It will showcase a firefighter suit that offers the world's highest levels of heat-protection performance in a comfortable, lightweight design, achieved using a Teijin-developed aramid fibre fabric. The company will also present a uniform fabric made with a newly developed meta-aramid fibre. It is said to offer the world’s highest levels of heat resistance combined with excellent dyeablility.
Teijin will unveil a stretchable aramid fibre fabric at the event that has been developed to enhance comfort and increase the range of motion for uniforms worn in physically demanding work such as search and rescue.
Finally, its radiation-shielding fabric will be on show. This is produced by blending tungsten particles with Technora para-aramid fibre, and the level of radiation protection corresponds to the amount of tungsten featured. The fabric offers flexibility and workability, enabling applications that cannot be achieved with lead plates or concrete. It is ideal for use in environments where workers need the mobility to handle tools while also being protected from radiation, hot objects, sharp-edged rubble and other dangers.
