Climber Nigel Vardy joins Terra Nova team

03/10/2013

Derbyshire-based climber Nigel Vardy has been named as a brand ambassador for UK outdoor brand Terra Nova Equipment.

Mr Vardy has helped test the firm’s gear for a number of years and has benefited from its support during various expeditions, including his quest to become the first Brit to climb the seven highest peaks on the seven largest islands, which he completed in 2007.

A keen mountaineer, he suffered severe frostbite in temperatures of -60°C on Mount McKinley in Alaska in 1999. It cost him his fingers, his nose and all of his toes. However, these injuries have not prevented him from climbing some of the world’s most challenging mountains and he recently announced that he will lead a team in the Ice Man Polar Race, billed as the world’s toughest Arctic ski race, in April 2014.

Marketing director Carolyn Budding said: “We are working closely with outdoor enthusiasts from various sports who are providing valuable feedback and commentary on products from our three brands: Terra Nova, Wild Country and Extremities.

“Terra Nova and Nigel have a long-standing association and we are delighted that Nigel will be a brand ambassador for our award winning ranges.”
