Euromonitor to discuss South Asia sportswear market
Consumer market analyst Euromonitor International will discuss sportswear trends at the third edition of the Lycra Rendezvous in Mumbai on Oct 16-17.
Magdalena Kondej, global head of apparel research, will deliver a presentation titled ‘Sportswear in South Asia: Market Trends and the Evolving Consumer Landscape’. It will provide insight into the shift in consumer preference towards health and wellness in India as well as intensifying competition among sportswear brands in the country.
Speaking ahead of the event, Ms Kondej commented: “Although per capita spend on sports apparel in India remains low compared to other markets, the growth rates have been phenomenal. In fact, the Indian sports apparel market has almost tripled since 2007 and further $2.5 billion is expected to be added to the industry in the next five years.
“This makes India the most dynamic market globally and presents tremendous opportunities for businesses operating in this area.”
Avinash Chandra, marketing head, Invista South Asia said: “We believe that sportswear segment is growing at rapid pace in India.” He added that the discussion should help those within the Indian sportswear market to “identify the next opportunity for swift growth”.
