DuPont receives Safety Council award

08/10/2013

The National Safety Council has presented its Robert W Campbell Award to US-based materials science company DuPont. Award recipients are chosen based on a comprehensive evaluation of the organisation’s environment, health and safety (EHS) management system and its impact on the bottom line.

DuPont has agreed to take part in the Campbell Award’s ongoing educational efforts, including the development of a case study sharing its best practices for use in business and engineering schools.

“DuPont is honoured to be named the 2013 recipient of the Robert W Campbell Award,” said DuPont Chair and CEO Ellen Kullman.  “Our active commitment to safety excellence has been embedded into DuPont for over two centuries.

"This commitment has helped us grow into the organisation we are today, and we will continue to seek improvements in safety, health and the environment as we work to live up to the high standards represented by the Campbell Award.”

Janet Froetscher, National Safety Council president and CEO, said: “As we mark the tenth anniversary of the Campbell Award, it is an honour to recognise DuPont and its multi-faceted approach to EHS management.

“We think it is commendable that DuPont is working to be the world’s most dynamic science company, creating sustainable solutions essential to a better, safer and healthier life for people everywhere.

“As DuPont looks toward the future, its commitment to EHS in the pursuit of business excellence should be applauded.”

The award is named after Robert W Campbell, a safety pioneer and the first president of the National Safety Council.
