The estimated value of the global market for protective clothing and workwear globally, is roughly €17 million ($23 million) per year, according to Joachim Schaefer, managing director of Messe Düsseldorf.

The head of the company organising the upcoming A+A convention, International Trade Fair and Congress on Occupational Safety and Health, which will run from November 5-8, said that Europe accounts for almost €6 million of this total, with Germany holding a share of approximately €1.6 million.

Mr Schaefer claims that the sector is growing and that demand is particularly high in markets where industrial manufacturing levels remain high, for example in Europe and Asia.

The A+A convention will focus on all aspects of safety and health at work, and will provide a platform for the A+A Fashion Show, at which textile firms will present the latest trends in protective clothing and workwear.
