Oeko-Tex to discuss STeP certification at IFAI
Sam Moore, who represents Switzerland-based Oeko-Tex in North America, will speak on the organisation’s STeP certification for sustainable textile production facilities at the IFAI Specialty Fabrics Expo 2013 in Orlando. The event will take place from October 21-25 at the Orange County Convention Center and Dr Moore’s presentation is scheduled for October 23 at 1:30pm (EDT).
The STeP certification was first introduced in April. It scores textile production facilities’ sustainability performance in six key areas: quality management, environmental management, social responsibility, safety, environmental performance and chemicals management.
Dr Moore has been an active proponent of sustainable textiles and textile processes throughout his career in the textile industry and has worked with Oeko-Tex since 2008. He also serves as associate professor at North Carolina State University’s College of Textiles. He previously served as vice-president of research and CEO of Burlington Chemical Company and CEO of Burlington Research.
