MC2 underwear with Dryarn helps fight fatigue, claims Mico
Italy-based underwear manufacturer Mico has launched MC2, a range that is specifically designed for those involved in running, cross-country skiing and alpine skiing.
Mico MC2 is said to offer athletes various performance features including breathability and thermoregulation as a result of the high percentage of Dryarn the fabric contains. According to the company, the underwear line helps the wearer to feel less fatigued by limiting the formation of lactic acid and helping it to disperse.
The fabric contains carnosine, a molecule that is naturally present in the crystalline lens, brain and skeletal muscle tissue. Carnosine is said to increase strength by activating the enzymes that are responsible for muscle contractions; combatting joint inflammation; limiting the number of free radicals produced in the human body during physical activity; and reducing fatigue by converting lactic acid into pyruvic acid.
“Mico has a method for processing yarn and fabric which protects the fragility of this valuable molecule and thereby ensure that it can effectively and safely perform its action on muscle tissue,” says a statement from the company. “This requires advanced technical fabrics, which are compatible with the molecule.
“Mico has developed a technology for micro-encapsulating very pure carnosine in the fabric and then allowing it to be gradually released for assimilation through the skin, as in medical applications.”
According to Mico, the fabric gradually releases the active substance to specific areas of the body. It is also non-allergenic.
