ISTAT records 11% rise in textile production

Italian statistics office ISTAT claims the country’s textile and apparel production increased by 11% in August compared with figures for August 2012.

The textile and apparel sector bucked the general trend, with most manufacturing sectors registering a decline and total production falling 5% year-on-year.

The largest reported decrease related to the machinery and equipment sector, including textile and apparel machinery, with the segment registering an 8.8% drop overall.
