Jack Wolfskin publishes new social report

12/11/2013
German outdoor brand Jack Wolfskin has published its third supplier social report, providing information about its suppliers and the social standards they adhere to.

All suppliers participated in the report, Jack Wolfskin said. In addition, it carried out 71 audits and 22 follow-up visits in the course of 2012.

“We make it clear that we’ve been developing our suppliers for years and wish to achieve a high standard,” said chief operating officer, Christian Brandt.

Last year, around 45% of the company’s suppliers received a rating of good or very good following the audits. About one third rank somewhere in the middle, but 23% had a lower rating. The brand said it was working hard with these companies to introduce new processes and achieve “permanent changes for the better”.

Mr Brandt made it clear that there had been instances of Jack Wolfskin terminating contracts with suppliers that were unable to make the changes required to bring about the necessary levels of improvement for the people working for them.
