Textile machinery imports up by more than 30% in Pakistan

Pakistan’s textile industry imported textile machinery with a value of $255.5 million in the first six months of the current financial year, July-December 2013.

This figure represents an increase of 31.2% compared to the same period in 2012. The figures come from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

The textile industry represents Pakistan’s largest manufacturing sector, but the industry there is dependent on imported machinery.
