BASF and Nexam develop nylon 6,6

10/02/2014
Nexam and chemical company BASF have developed a new crosslinkable nylon 6,6 and BASF has been awarded market exclusivity for two years conditional on annual minimum purchases.

The global engineering plastics usage of nylon 6,6 is estimated at 1.5 million tons (equal to a turnover of more than $6 billion) and growing.

“This agreement is an important stepping stone for Nexam,” said its CEO, Per Palmqvist Morin. “It indicates that we are moving from a development company into a commercial operation.”

Nexam is based in Sweden and works with crosslinkers for nylon 6, nylon 6,6 and specialty nylons.
