Vietnam adds value to apparel and achieves export growth

Vietnamese textile and apparel manufacturers achieved export growth of more than 30% in the first two months of 2014.

Data from the country’s ministry of industry and trade shows export earnings among textile and clothing manufacturers of $3.2 billion in January and February this year.

Tran Quang Nghi, general director of industry association Vinatex, said one of the reasons for growth in export earnings is that Vietnamese firms are adding value to the finished garments they produce through investment in new technology and an increase in design capacity in the country.
