Textile cluster idea secures European Commission funding

07/04/2014
The European Commission is to provide €1.7 million in funding for a new project called Tex-Med Clusters, which will aim to make the textile industry in Mediterranean countries in Europe more competitive.

Eight European countries have signed up to take part, together providing €300,000 to take the project’s overall funding to €2 million. The project will run for two years.

At the core of the idea is the proposal that small and medium-sized companies in the European textile sector will be encouraged to establish links and work on projects together to make it easier for clothing brands to work with them rather than with competitors in Asia.
