H&M chief calls for new sustainability labelling on shoes and clothes
Chief executive of retail group H&M, Karl-Johan Persson, has said he wants a standard to show the sustainability of clothing and footwear, developed by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, to appear on product labelling to allow consumers to “benchmark products”.

In comments to The Guardian newspaper on April 9, Mr Persson said he believed labelling would be useful in allowing consumers to compare products even across brands. “It’s an aim that I fully support,” he said.
