New global textile award programme launches
08/05/2014
There will be seven award categories: Fibre Producer of the Year; Spinner of the Year; Knitter of the Year; Weaver of the Year; Dyer & Finisher of the Year; Garment Maker of the Year and Technical Textile Producer of the Year.
Chief executive of the new London-based organisation, Adrian Dinsdale, said on announcing the idea: “From the outset, our vision was to select winners from across the supply chain, all the way from fibre production through to the end product. And we are putting excellence ahead of all other factors such as company size or geographical location. It really is a level playing field.”
Winners will be announced in each of the competition’s seven categories with one overall winner also garnering the prestigious title of ‘International Textile Firm of the Year’.
Mr Dinsdale went on to say that the textile industry has missed out on the recognition that it deserves. He added: “There are so many firms worldwide doing truly amazing work and it is time we celebrated that and raised the industry’s global profile.”
Entrants will have to pay a fee of £180 before July 1, 2014, and £200 if they enter after that date and before the final deadline of October 30, 2014.
