Textile chemicals manufacturer Archroma has high hopes that its Advanced Denim process, which it says offers denim manufacturers big savings in water, energy and cotton use, will be a winner at the Society of Dyers and Colourists Innovation Awards 2014.

Arcrhoma’s Advanced Denim is shortlisted in the large organisations category; award winners will be announced on May 16.

The Singapore-based company claims that using Advanced Denim can offer denim manufacturers savings of up to 92% in water use, a reduction in cotton waste of more than 60% and a 30% saving in energy costs.

“It’s a ready-to-use solution towards zero discharge,” said Miguel Sánchez, global head of product line special dyes at Archroma, in the build-up to the awards. “Retailers, brands and many accredited denim mills around the world are showing a huge interest in what is the first innovation in denim production in more than 150 years. We are proud to bring to the market what we believe is a game-changing contribution to a more sustainable denim industry.”
