Textile and clothing employs 1.7 million people in the EU

According to European Commission figures, the value of the European Union’s (EU) textile and clothing industry in 2013 was €166 billion.

The figures say that the 28 EU states together are home to 173,000 textile and clothing companies, employing a combined total of more than 1.7 million people.
