All adidas materials will have to comply with bluesign
Adidas has signed a partnership agreement with textile certification bureau bluesign technologies. The sports group said it wanted its suppliers across the globe to have access to the ‘bluefinder’ tool to obtain information on sustainable textile chemistry for processes such as pre-treatment, dyeing and finishing.

According to adidas, the result will be materials that are more sustainable in its sports clothing, footwear and equipment. All materials will have to comply with bluesign criteria. In 2013, the company conducted 149 environmental audits at its suppliers’ factories.

“We are very pleased that one of the sustainability leaders in the industry is becoming a bluesign system partner,” said bluesign technologies, chief executive, Peter Waeber, at the time of the announcement.
