Cambodia: garment workers to get minimum wage increase every January

Discussions in Cambodia have led to an agreement to raise the national minimum wage for apparel workers in the country every year on January 1.

In the final quarter of each year, a group in charge of deciding minimum wage levels will meet to determine the increase that will kick in at the start of the following January. The Garment Manufacturers’ Association of Cambodia took part in the discussions.

Until now, increases in the minimum wage came about in an ad hoc way, often after industrial action.
