Brazil’s export promotions agency Apex-Brasil has said it hopes a business networking programme it has set up at matches in five host cities for the 2014 FIFA World Cup can generate new business for Brazilian companies worth $6 billion.

The organisation’s president, Mauricio Borges, recently told local media that he was optimistic about the benefit of networking events taking part among Brazilian companies and visitors from Japan, China, North America and Europe as part of a hospitality programme at World Cup matches.

“The eyes of the world are on Brazil at the moment,” he said.
