TAL prepares to launch “reworked” sweat-absorbing fabric

UK-based performance fabric manufacturer Technical Absorbents Limited (TAL) has “reworked” its KoolSorb product and is preparing to relaunch it under the new name K-Sorb.

This product, which is made from a patented proprietary fibre called Super Absorbent Fibre (SAF), provides high levels of sweat absorption and retention to make garments feel cool and dry. The new version offers improved comfort and containment of perspiration, with high levels of durability and washability.

Sweat is “locked away” within a highly absorbent core, TAL has explained, reducing wet back and a wet or clammy feeling for the wearer. The fabric is designed to absorb up to 10 times its own weight in sweat during use, the equivalent of 4.5 litres of sweat for a standard size jacket. However the fabric is fully washable, allowing repeated use of the material.

On announcing the development, technical sales manager, Dave Hill, commented: “K-Sorb has been in development for some time. It is designed to work under extreme conditions. The ability of the material to absorb and retain many times its own weight in sweat, while still remaining dry to the touch, allows the user to maintain a cool, dry feeling for an extended period.”
