BASF maintains high expectations of performance products
Chemical group BASF has said currency effects were to blame for a 3% year-on-year decline in its performance products segment in the second quarter of 2014.

Sales volumes grew over the quarter, especially in the Asia Pacific region, to €435 million but “negative currency effects put a strain on sales development”, the company said.

BASF textile chemicals, which fit into this segment, include products and systems for weaving, pretreatment, optical brightening, conventional and digital textile printing, coating and finishing, as well as dyeing auxiliaries.

On announcing the results, BASF chairman, Dr Kurt Bock, said the company was confident of considerably higher contributions from its performance products segment in the course of the rest of this year.
