Oeko-Tex celebrates first STeP certification in Romania

Textile finisher SC Ready Garment Technology SRL Romania, a subsidiary company of German group Dietrich Bock, has become the first textile company in Romania to be awarded with STeP certification by Oeko-Tex.

Oeko-Tex introduced the STeP certification programme in 2013 to recognise companies that run environmentally friendly and socially responsible textile supply chains.

For the STeP certification, areas of the company connected to sustainable production and social conditions were first analysed using a web-based assessment tool. This included the handling of chemicals and possible hazardous materials, environmental performance, responsibility in relation to employees, quality management and safety in the workplace. An audit of the production facilities followed.
