Portugal: textile factory destroyed by fire

Reports from Portugal say a textile factory in São Martinho do Campo, near Porto, has been destroyed by fire. The fire burned throughout the night of August 13 and 14, with almost 100 firefighters from all over the region in attendance.

The factory belonged to a company called Felpinter, a specialist in home textiles.

Local fire chief, Joaquim Faria, told media the operation had been made more difficult by the presence of flammable materials in the factory and by the direction and strength of the wind.
