Eindhoven conference examines the footwear materials of the future
The inaugural Future Footwear Materials conference took place in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, on December 11.

Organised by footwear innovation and education institute SLEM, the one-day event comprised a variety of presentations on material developments that are proving to be, or could be in the future, of interest to athletic footwear companies.

Speakers represented a range of technical universities, materials and chemical companies from  different parts of Europe. The specific subjects they covered included new possibilities for auxetic materials, for electronics in footwear and several presentations about 3D printing for footwear.

On the day, SLEM’s founder and creative director, Nicoline van Enter, announced that a follow-up event is already planned for next year. It will take place in Eindhoven on December 10, 2015.
