Indorama encouraged by polyester possibilities

16/02/2015
Polyester producer Indorama has reported sales of around $330 million for the first nine months of the current financial year, from April to December 2014.

This represents an increase of 8.6% on the same period in the previous financial year.

Managing director, O. P. Lohia, said on announcing the figures that higher duties have made manmade fibres “uncompetitive” in India during this decade and that production capacities there remain under-used.

But he said a new ‘Made in India’ campaign ought to benefit the entire textile sector there and, within that, provide the domestic polyester industry with a chance to “showcase its capabilities”.
