Search begins for new adidas chief executive

Sports brand adidas has already begun its search for a new chief executive, even though the current incumbent, Herbert Hainer, is contracted to remain in the position until 2017.

In a statement, the chairman of the company’s supervisory board, Igor Landau, has confirmed that adidas has already engaged an executive search firm to find Mr Hainer’s successor.

Herbert Hainer has been chief executive of adidas for 14 years. He has written a letter to employees to say the search for his successor will be a long one and that he will continue planning for the company’s future beyond 2017.

He said in the letter that internal and external candidates will be considered for the role.
