The original company, the Badische Anilin & Sodafabrik (BASF), was founded in Mannheim, Germany, on April 6, 1865, with its early focus on producing dyes and inorganic chemicals.
BASF has been an important player in the textile value chain for more than a century, with a portfolio of solutions in sizing, pretreatment, dyeing, printing, finishing and coating, that it insists addresses sustainability and efficiency challenges.
For more than forty years, it has been supplying footwear manufacturers with high-performance materials such as Elastopan and Elastollan for all types of shoes and soles. A more recent innovation, Infinergy, is the world’s first expanded thermoplastic polyurethane (E-TPU), BASF says, combining the properties of TPU with the advantages of foams to make running shoes effective and comfortable to wear.
