ILO to help in new garment factory inspection programme in Vietnam

Vietnam’s ministry of labour has said it will work with the International Labour Organisation to carry out inspections at hundreds of garment and textile enterprises across 12 provinces. The project will take place over the next five months and will examine working conditions and levels of worker training in the factories.

Statistics published by the ministry showed that more than 80% of textile and garment factories it inspected last year violated official policies relating to working hours, rest periods and other labour safety regulations.
