Sea turtle campaign captures Eurojersey’s imagination

Warp-knit specialist Eurojersey has launched special versions of its Sensitive fabric to encourage swimwear manufacturers to incorporate vibrant images of the loggerhead sea turtle onto swimming costumes.

The project is part of a wider three-year partnership that Eurojersey has entered into with campaign group World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Italia to help raise awareness of efforts to safeguard the Mediterranean against a series of threats, including pollution, overfishing and the negative impact of tourism.

Eurojersey has said it was particularly struck by the plight of the sea turtles and has printed the special versions of Sensitive as a tribute to the animals. New-born turtles often have difficulty making it from the beach, where they hatch, to the sea for the first time. WWF estimates that as many as 130,000 of them are caught up in fishing equipment each year and that around 40,000 of these die as a result.
