Japanese firm may increase its stake in Indonesian fabrics producer

Reports in Indonesia suggest Japanese textile manufacturer Unitika is seeking to increase its stake in Unitex, a Java-based manufacturer and exporter of polyester and cotton fabrics.

Unitika already has close to a 70% stake in the Indonesian producer, which has recorded poor results in recent years as rising labour and energy costs have eaten into profits.
